SCOPE
The project was part of an council-wide initiative to enhance open and green spaces in order to increase visitor numbers. Round Lake Park, a tranquil lakeside destination set in the heart of the lush Clogher Valley.
Our site work included:
- creating a more inviting and aesthetically pleasing entrance
- safe vehicle, pedestrian, and cycle linkages into the site
- refurbished car park, with enhanced lighting and soft landscaping
- improved vehicle and pedestrian linkages throughout, including new wayfinding
- redesigned and landscaped camping area, with trees sensitively crown-thinned or removed to allow for greater light to improve user safety
- new play area with safety surfacing and sensory planting
- events area created and lakeside building refurbished
- lakeside trail retained, with improvements to surfacing, drainage and refurbishment of existing street furniture with additional native species tree and shrub planting around boundaries
OUTCOME
A high-quality year-round public facility that meets the physical, social, and emotional needs of visitors. Located just outside Fivemiletown, it provides an ideal base to tour the scenic Fermanagh Lakelands, the Carleton trail or the Blessingbourne mountain bike trails, or as a stopover when visiting the west of Ireland.
